RE: Campgrounds along the New York Thruway (90)
You might find a site at Darien Lakes State Park in Darien Center (between Rochester and Buffalo). That's not too far from the Thruway and pretty easy to get in and out of. I'd call ahead, though. When there is a concert in town, then you should avoid it. There's a Flying J at that intersection, too.
Camping near Busch Gardens Tampa - Bay Bayou?
Hi folks,
I'm looking for a place to camp for our trip to Busch Gardens Tampa in April. I searched the archives and found one post on the subject and one person responded recommending Bay Bayou, which sounds like an okay place. Anyone have any experience with Bay Bayou in Tampa? It's expensive - $48/night was the quote. And, like many Florida parks, they seem like they're not quite sure they allow kids. This was a funny one - yes, kids are okay, but only for a week. Well, hey, I get tired of my kids after a week, too ;-).
Anyway, if anyone has a better idea about where to stay for a trip to Busch Gardens, please tell me about it. I guess I don't mind the price toooooo much, but it wouldn't hurt to find a more reasonable place. I do want a pool, though.
Thanks!
Sharon
RE: Western Village RV Park-Pennsylvania
We did an overnight there once. It has a kind of hokey cowboy theme going on, which gave us a giggle, no big deal. The staff when we were there were actually pretty obnoxious, but we were there off-season and who knows if the knuckleheads we dealt with would still be there. I guess I'd say it's an ok place to park the camper, no big pluses or minuses.
RE: Camp Hatteras NC vs. Ocean Waves NC
You didn't say when you're going. We stayed at Camp Hatteras last April and it is a nice place, as others have said. It has the rare advantage of an indoor pool, so if you'll be there off-season like we were, that might be of interest to you. It is kind of big and sites are close together (nothing out of the ordinary, but it is no state park). There is no beach on the sound, but I paddled my kayak on the sound side and it was beautiful, calm, serene.
I'm not dying to go back, though. More of a forest & lake girl, I guess.

RE: question about RVParkreviews.com
Right! I just figured that out. I guess my brain couldn't take in the awful ratings.
Sounds like I'd better find a different campground. And maybe have another cup of coffee.
Thanks.

RE: question about RVParkreviews.com
I'm looking for Jim Thorpe Camping Resort in Jim Thorpe, PA.
But while we're at it, anyone have any suggestions for places to stay around the Lehigh Valley Gorge in PA? We're looking to bike ride. We're in a fiver - on the big side for these wooded Poconos campgrounds.
Thanks!

question about RVParkreviews.com
I've been using RVParkreviews.com for years now, but I haven't needed it lately. I was just looking up a park this morning though, and I am confused by its new layout. Is it now impossible to see all the reviews of a particular park? It says there are 116 ratings of this park, but we only get to see 3 and those are from '01, '02 & '05. Not very helpful! Also, we don't get an average rating.
Am I missing something clickable?
Thanks,
Sharon
